From the award-winning documentary, "Playing For Change: Peace Through Music," comes the first of many "songs around the world" being released independently. This amazing version of “Stand by Me” brought a smile to my face, and I hope it will do the same for you.

Watch it from beginning to end—you won't regret it. This cover of Stand By Me was recorded by completely unknown artists in a street virtual studio all around the world!

It all started with a base track—vocals and guitar—recorded on the streets of Santa Monica, California, by a street musician named Roger Ridley. The base track was then taken to New Orleans, Louisiana, where Grandpa Elliott—a blind singer from the French Quarter—added vocals and harmonica while listening to Ridley's base track on headphones. In the same city, Washboard Chaz's added metal percussions.

From there, it just gets better and better: The producers took the resulting mix all through Europe, Africa, and South America, adding new tracks with multiple instruments and vocals, which were assembled into this final final version -- all done with a simple laptop and some microphones. Amazing!

New Spase + Tyme Album/Free Music!

You may have been wondering where the hell I've been. You may not have...but either way, my posts have been sparse recently. 3 years ago I had the grand intention of releasing my second Spase + Tyme album, the followup to the critically acclaimed Stealing The Past EP. I sat down, selected the tracks to use, started mixing, even named the album...and BAM, Art Deko and I began working on our album and the Spase + Tyme album got thrown on the backburner.

Well, I finally got off my ass and finished it. It's called R U Ready 4 Tha Riots? and it's ready for your aural consumption.

Most of this stuff is old, up to 5 years old actually. There are a couple new and newish tracks though, including track 7, 'All Seeing Eye', a crazy breakbeat psychedelia instrumental joint I've been working on for the past 14 months.

In about a week it will be on sale on CDBaby.com, and a couple weeks after that it will show up on iTunes....but in the meantime, it's free. As a matter of fact, it will always be free....the whole album is available as 128kbps mp3's in the downloads section over at ConcentratedEfforts.com

This is a picture I took of Spoonbill on the right and Android Jones (more on him later) jamming out. You may remember both of these guys from the Black Rock City as they're both residents. If you haven't seen them there or anywhere else I'd recommend do so next chance you get.

Well I'm not sure if those are the words I would have chosen. New Age sounds like an insult to me. Actually all of that sounds like an insult but only so far as those adjectives are anachronisms. Another time perhaps that would be pretty spot on.

You can listen to Spoonbill's entire discography on his site if you like. But support him! That could go without saying. (On a side note. You know those commercials at the beginning of movies these days that start off with, "You wouldn't steal a purse." I fuckin paid to see this movie, didn't I? I don't have to sit through this shit when I watch pirated stuff so why do I have to now. I applaud Spoonbill for putting his discography out there on his site. It's really all about the live shit anyway. That's how I support. And to hell with paying 90% to the A&R people when I buy a disc. I don't need their help finding good music. I will buy a disc straight from the artist. Highly unoriginal rant end)

So Spoonbill can be categorized as glitch right? Hard to pin down exactly but If you start spouting words like downtempo jazzy poly-rhythmic glitch-hop folktronic brokenbeat I think you're on the right track mate. At any rate he's awesome and what I'm listening to on repeat at the moment.

So I have some very cool friend's who have been going to this spiritual guru/business leader guy who has made billions of dollars several times in his life time and he gave it all away to focus on a simple spiritual life. He does these talks once a week at his house for $400 bucks for 6 sessions. So my friends invite me over to one of these talks for a free trial and my "This sounds like a cult" warning alarm goes off. I was a total skeptic. Which by the way is not a lifestyle I recommend to anyone. I said I don't pay my friends to hang out with me. But now I get it...

I'd have to say the workshop for me was almost a cult like, religious experience. As insidious as that sounds that's the only metaphor I can come up with to describe this feeling I have. I'm sure it's a similar feeling to that of people who are born again or saved when they find their church or whatever. Fucking pathetic I know. But having never really identified with any kind of tangible group or movement before I kind of feel like, Yeah! This is something I can get behind. Nah I'm kidding I'm constantly having these epiphanies all the time. I just walk around going holy, holy, holy... But this weekend workshop was a big one. I'll put it this way. A few years ago I made a decision to start climbing this mountain where the summit was obscurred by clouds and fog. I had no idea how high this mountain was going to be, but after this workshop I've finally climbed out and above the fog and clouds and now I can see the peak and holy crap it's still a long way and had I known before how big it was I probably would never have started but now I've come this far... So fuck it. Let's do this thing.

Anyway...

I know what you are up to Massive Black! I know what you're doing. You're indoctrinating a whole group of followers with some kind of manic otaku fandom that will infiltrate the industry from the ground up. What the hell is going on here? Don't they just make games? No they make assets for games. is that it? Obviously not. That's why you have to look out for them because MB is next. Like a panther stalking in the shadows ready to pounce. New Zealand is a whole country, albeit small, full to the hilt of crazy creative people. A month ago most of these people had no idea who MB was. Now everyone knows and they have people who went to the workshop like me telling everyone else about MB. This is guerrilla marketing at it's finest. Massive Black is taking over the world. Mark my words.

What the hell am I talking about? Massive black has been doing this shit for like 10 years... And a fine job too. But take a lesson from Massive Black and Obama. This is how it's done in the 21st century. Fuck the suits get the people behind you. That's real power.

Forget all of that. It was a great party and uber creative atmosphere. The instructors all were really down to earth people and they really reminded me of all the creative people I'm workin and playin with. Jason Manley actually reminded me a lot of J Kanizzle for some reason. I will definitely take what I have learned from this Workshop and make it my own. I've done a few semi successful art shows in NZ, which is not my native country, and I'm really looking forward to the next one. I'm proud to have met the guys at Massive Black and I had high expectations of what the workshop would be and it surpassed those expectations. The best part is that I left feeling like, now I've got to fulfil my end of the deal. I've been sort of living on credit artisiticly speaking. Like the US economy I've been borrowing on my future potential as an artist and now it's time to pay.

q-tip's 'the renaissance' is sizzlean to my audio canals! its what i would expect to hear from him. it shows growth and maturity with that same OVERWHELMING source energy that manifested itself on the numerous atcq hits and b-sides and imports, etc.

it would be a damn shame if this release went the way of his first solo release, 'amplified'. amplified was fire!!! the phucking collab with korn?!?!?! c'mon!!! that whole shyt was bizzzangin! everybody thought tip was going the bling route cuz he had a few bytches and some fur in his video?!?!!!! TRUE tip fans would realize that tip had BEEN on that shyt from the very beginning!!! tip has always had raunchy lyrics,,,street lyrics,,, intellilyrics,,, and party lyrics...and that was ALL on 'amplified'! the beats were off the meat rack and gritty. there was only one track i didnt like.

just like his first release, with this new release, there is only one track that i dont like. track name: wont trade. who knows, maybe it will grow on me. i didnt like 'what' at first! lol i STILL dont like that one track off amplified,,,i forget the name. thats how much i dont like it i guess! lmao...

this new shyt is good for the intelligent high school students,,,good for the college crowd...good for the 9-5ers w/their drama and the owners too!

drop your expectations and let qtip be qtip. if you are a fan, you will except the fact that the cat is into a bunch of different shyt. and he is good at what he does. if one could just appreciate his works as opposed to expecting him to only personify the vibe that came off on the radio hits, then said person could FEEL tip's accomplishments more fully.

My complaint about Megacosmic Transmissions

Callous. Otiose. Irritating. In case you can't tell, I'm making a direct reference to Megacosmic Transmissions. To start, Megacosmic Transmissions is right about one thing, namely that fear is what motivates us. Fear of what it means when slimy criminal masterminds promote violence in all its forms -- physical, sexual, psychological, economical, and social. Fear of what it says about our society when we teach our children that it's okay for Megacosmic Transmissions to indulge its every whim and lust without regard for anyone else or for society as a whole. And fear of irrational yokels like Megacosmic Transmissions who rip apart causes that others feel strongly about.

Megacosmic Transmissions has spent untold hours trying to twist the teaching of history to suit its infernal, cantankerous purposes. During that time, did it ever once occur to it that it deserves exemplary punishment? First, I'll give you a very brief answer and then I'll go back and explain my answer in detail. As for the brief answer, it is willing -- even eager -- to jettison its scruples in order to stay ahead of the pack. This is not what I think; this is what I know. I additionally know that my cause is to bring a fresh perspective and new ideas to the current debate. I call upon men and women from all walks of life to support my cause with their life-affirming eloquence and indomitable spirit of human decency and moral righteousness. Only then will the whole world realize that if you think that ethical responsibility is merely a trammel of earthbound mortals and should not be required of a demigod like Megacosmic Transmissions then you're suffering from very serious nearsightedness. You're focusing too much on what Megacosmic Transmissions wants you to see and failing to observe many other things of much greater importance such as that its vituperations are based on a denial of reality, on the substitution of a deliberately falsified picture of the world in place of reality. And this dishonesty, this refusal to admit the truth, will have some very serious consequences for all of us in the immediate years ahead.

In that respect, we can say that you'd think that someone would have done something by now to thwart Megacosmic Transmissions's plans to convince mentally deficient meatheads that there is absolutely nothing they can do to better their lot in life besides joining it. Unfortunately, most people are quite happy to "go along to get along" and are rather reluctant to go placidly amid the noise and haste. It is imperative that we inform such people that you don't need to be a rocket scientist to detect the subtext of this letter. But just in case it's too subliminal for some, let me thrust it into your face right here: Megacosmic Transmissions always looks the other way when one of its provocateurs gets it in his head to regulate adversarialism. Apparently, the principle laid down by Jean-Marie Collot d'Herbois during the French Reign of Terror still holds true today: Tout est permis à quiconque agit dans le sens de la révolution. In closing, we must do everything in our power to extirpate gangsterism root, trunk, and branch. The fight must go on.

Slackin'...yes, that is I in relation to Megacosmic entries. I sincerely apologize...it's not that there haven't been a million and one things I've wanted to post, it's more like being caught up with the day to day extreme nature of my life. Sometimes I wonder what kind of crazy karmic debt I've inherited that leads to the situations I'm put in.

So, a couple weeks ago, my sister calls from New Mexico and tells me this beautiful dog she adobted 6 years ago and had given to her father bit someone. The dog catcher came and picked up the dog to put it in quarantine to make sure it didn't have rabies...and then her pops decides he doesn't want the dog anymore. Well, in the land of enchantment that means that this dog has to get put down.

Now this dog is no normal dog....anyone who knows him knows he's a special breed of canine...a beast that in another time would have been dubbed a spirit animal. He's a beautiful husky/maybe wolf mix with white eyes that pierce right through you and a personality that makes you believe he'll be a human in his next incarnation. Not to mention the fact that him and I have a long history of hiking the rocky mountains together over the years. He's the perfect trail dog...no leash needed and always within sight. Several years ago while hiking in the mountains of northern new mexico...a big rock hit my head and almost killed me. That dog didn't leave my side the whole time...even as they were putting me in the ambulance at the trailhead that dog had to be held back from getting in the vehicle with me...even though I was passed out cold.

So, needless to say...I wasn't letting this fantastic dog go down...so over the course of a few days my sisters and the wonderful folks at the dog shelter got the dog out (they made an exception since we were family). I flew out from Washington DC last Saturday for a whirlwind 48 hour trip to pick this dog up and fly him back to the nations capitol. Now...he's having the time of his life with his second lease on life...good for him. Me...I'm happy, but 700 bucks poorer...the things we do for the things we love. I was just getting ready to buy a new Macbook too! Ah well...happy to save the dog.

Anyways, I know that's a verbose and egocentric entry...just wanted to explain my absence to any faithful readers of this blog. I promise a new episode of Megacosmic Transmissions, the radio show for this Tuesday. No more 3 weeks of slacking, I swear!

now,,lets get the bullshyt aside. the chance of a herm impregnating his&herself is next to less than zero...it is extREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEMELY rare. this is because herms are usually sterile, unfortunately. in most cases, they cant even fuck themselves, (physically that is) because the penis/super-clit is not long enough to bend down and around to the point of entering the va-jj. internally, the organs are usually femmed out. sometimes a male leaning will eek its way into an exhibition of dominance or the fem and thus, a male. cosmetic surgery is usually done shortly after birth.

my INITIAL thought was, would the hermaphrodite community have some sort of extra insight into male and female relations and thought processess? could they bridge some sort of gap between the sexes? are they more divinely and other dimensionally inclined seeing as how they are closer to being whole and god-like than any single sex humanoid. a veritable trinity in the flesh.

well, that question was answered bluntly! dammit,,,,if they physiologically lean one way or the other, then most likely the hormones needed to provide said insights would not be present in the individual..

HOWEVER,,,my stubborn ass says, "what about that super rare individual that has both sets of fully developed AND FUNCTIONAL ORGANS"!!!

but for realsicle...it is said that in some ancient indigenous and african tribes, the hermophodite was looked upon as a god incarnate because of the appearance of completion...that being both sex organs. in these tribes,,the herms were the shaman (sha-person) of the clan..or the medicine person or both. and many other times they were the neutral party in sorting out disputes...

ON ANOTHER LEVEL!! in my research, i did find out that there is a popular entity that is worshipped by freemasons and is said to have been worshipped by the knights templar. this entity is baphomet..baphomet is a hermaphroditic entity...look it up!!

SOooo,,,the verdict is still out on my question; to a small degree. a TRUE and living hermaphrodite eludes me and my curiosity...as far as i am concerned, their truth has them chillin with unicorns and shyt,,,where ever they hang out and graze and create life and whatever...

Weta, those guys responsible for movies like The Lord of the Rings, King Kong, and soon Peter Jackson's The Lovely Bones and James Cameron's AVATAR just threw a wicked Halloween party and everyone went all out for it. When the moon turns full the freaks come out to party. The horror is remembered here in the light you did not see, redder then blood itself, eerie infrared.

Often all that lies between a merry band of infiltrators and exploration paradise is a simple, two-dimensional warning sign. A warning sign which cruelly informs all who gaze upon it that it holds no love for them; they are unwelcome; whatever lies behind the sign is too good for them. Though our eager explorers would think nothing of parking beside a "no parking" or "employee parking only" sign and later claiming that they didn't see the sign, or didn't think the sign applied to them, they would never think of taking such a chance here. And so, though our explorers have never signed any document agreeing to obey all signs they may encounter, they brush off a tear and turn away. Well, no more! We have allowed these signs to repress us for too long! It's time to do some serious disregarding!

Photos I've taken with my Lomo Fisheye with a strange slide film SO279 that expired ten years ago. They don't make this type of film anymore. Then I tweaked the color and contrast in Potatoshop. These were taken in New Mexico on The Historic Route 66 which on a sunny summer day is full of classic american automobiles. This is a Cadillac. Maybe a Deville? Maybe late sixties?
